Frequently Asked Questions

for brow permanent make-up / cosmetic tattoo
  • A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. If you are on your menstrual cycle you will be a bit more sensitive towards the pain.

  • The treatment is performed under strict sanitation and sterilization standards. As a highly trained and certified cosmetic tattoo specialist, I perform each service using disposable, sterilized parts and needles. The treatment is conducted with disposable and completely disinfected and sterilized equipment and a one-time-use needle. All pigments that are used contain ingredients approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.

  • WAIVER/CONSENT FORM - A waiver and consent form will be filled out at the start of your appointment.

CONSULTATION - A brow consultation to discuss shape, colour and desired brow, and to go over any brow examples you have brought with you. 'Before' photos will also be captured at this time.

SHAPING - A lot of detail and precision goes into the mapping/ shaping process. This sets the foundation of your desired brow and may take significant time to outline/ shape your brows. Once you approve the shape, we proceed with the next steps.

NUMBING - A numbing cream (5% lidocaine ointment) will be applied to the brow treatment area for all microblading services. Numbing takes 10-15 minutes to make you as comfortable as possible during your service. Shading/ Ombre, and Combo brows are less invasive, therefore we will skip initial numbing and and it will be applied after the outline and 1st pass is complete. Numbing cream can be applied at any time during your appointment to ensure you are comfortable.

MICROBLADING - Going back and forth between each brow, I will be using a manual blade to create one stroke. We fill your brow with hair-like strokes, one at a time to fill in your brow to your desired fullness and will usually take up to 3 passes on each brow.

OMBRE BROWS - You can choose how bold (light, medium, or dark) you would like your brows to be. As a more natural based studio, we can always build up your boldness at your perfecting touch-up session. I will shade directly over your approved brow design. Depending on your chosen boldness/ ombre level, I will do 3-8 passes of each brow. This can vary per client.

COMBO BROWS - Your brows will first be filled in with microblading strokes and the outline for your ombre brow. The body and tail of the brows will be shaded to create your desired boldness and depth.

FINISHING TOUCHES - While we have the pigment sit on your brows sits for the last few minutes of the service, we will discuss the aftercare and go over any questions you have and reveal your new brows! Additional questions regarding the aftercare can be discussed and the 'after' photos will be taken.

The complete appointment can take up to 3 hours.

After your appointment, you can enjoy your brows and proceed with your daily life as normal. Each initial appointment comes with a complete aftercare kit that will last you for your entire healing of your initial service and your 6-8 week perfecting touch-up session.

    • Those who are active and constantly sweating or rubbing off their makeup. • Those with unsteady hands for makeup application

    • Those who have allergies to traditional make-up

    • Those with alopecia or loss of brow hair due to chemotherapy

  • Hairstroke eyebrows are tattooing individual, angled hair like strokes that mimic your natural hair growth to achieve the most natural looking eyebrows. The color is more vibrant than powdering but the shape is not as defined as powdered ombre since its strokey looking. However if you have an oily t-zone your strokes will be less distinct looking and may blur a bit. Feathering on average fades 25% from the initial procedure.

Powdered ombre eyebrows once healed look like powdered eyebrows that are lighter in the front and will gradually go darker towards the tail. The end result is a defined shaped that is soft and powdery looking. Powdered ombre fades 30% on average from the initial.

  • The treatment is permanent and will not wash off. However, it will fade over time and touch-ups are recommended roughly once a year to maintain the colour. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if anything that resurfaces the skin come into contact with treated areas. Touch-ups are normal for permanent makeup procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2 visits. The initial procedure followed by a complimentary touch-up procedure about 2 months later. The initial is when we build up the eyebrow and the touch up is to fine tune anything that is needed.

  • Your permanent makeup will appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten over the course of a week. You may carry on normal activities immediately after, except you should not use makeup on the affected area during the healing process. Your eyebrows will appear thicker and much darker for up to 5 days post procedure until any scab peels off. The area may also be reddish and tender, so be gentle with your skin during the healing process and keep applying the aftercare product provided. Healing usually takes on average anywhere between 10-14 days.

  • At first, the pigment will appear too dark. Then, after 1 week it may appear much too light. The final colour will not “settle” for about 4 weeks. Then at around 6 weeks you will return for your complimentary touch up. At the second treatment, I will assess the colour retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates.

  • I provide very specific post-care instructions after your procedure. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a good healing process and to achieve the best results. The most essential aftercare is to keep the treated area dry from water but kept moist (with ointment provided in a very thin coat), do not rub or pick as the colour will peel off, and avoid extreme heat (like in saunas, jacuzzis, steam rooms, places with hot humidity). Also, no sweating during the healing process.

  • A good sunscreen applied daily on tattooed area(s) is needed to help keep colour true. Sun exposure will make the colour fade faster. If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area. If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area. Laser may cause pigment to turn black.

  • I use iron oxide pigments. These pigments fade over time as your body will naturally absorb it. They are considered the safest semi-permanent pigments to use for skin.

  • I incorporate as much of the natural brow hairs as possible. Any stray hairs that lay outside of the brow design will be removed. Avoid heavy waxing /plucking / threading the week of your appointment

  • As a precaution, I do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

  • You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo service

  • Most definitely it is. I just request you have it done two weeks prior to your scheduled appointment or wait until two weeks after your appointment to have Botox done
