Touching up / Correction on your Existing Brow Cosmetic Tattoo (From Another Artist)

As a professional permanent makeup artist, I would not be able to perform touch-ups on previously done PMU brows by another artist for several reasons.

Firstly, it is considered unethical to modify or make changes to someone else's work without their consent. This can be seen as an infringement of their artistic expression and may result in damaging their reputation.

Additionally, it can be challenging to predict the outcome of touch-ups on previously done PMU brows, especially if the original artist used a different technique or colour than what is recommended for your skin type. Touching up another artist's work also increases the risk of complications, such as scarring, infection, and uneven healing/ colour.

Finally, touch-ups on PMU brows require specialized skills and knowledge to ensure the best results. It's essential to have a clear understanding of the original work and the client's expectations before making any changes.

There are several challenges that can arise when attempting to touch up another artist's permanent makeup (PMU) brow work, including

  • Lack of consistent technique: Different artists may use different techniques, which can make it challenging to match the existing work. This can result in an uneven appearance and a lack of harmony between the original work and the touch-up.

  • Different color choices: Different artists may use different color pigments, which can result in color mismatches when attempting to touch up the original work. This can lead to an unnatural appearance and may even require further touch-ups to correct.

  • Unknown skin reactions: It's difficult to predict how the skin will react to the touch-up procedure, especially if the original work was done with a different type of pigment or needle. This can result in complications such as infection, scarring, or uneven color.

  • Understanding the original work: Touching up another artist's work requires a deep understanding of the original technique and the client's expectations. Without this information, it can be challenging to achieve the desired results.

  • Client's skin condition: The skin's condition can change over time, and touch-ups may be required to restore the original appearance. However, touch-ups on previously done PMU brows can be challenging if the client has sensitive skin, is prone to scarring, or has experienced other skin-related issues.

For these reasons, it's important to approach touch-ups on another artist's PMU work with caution and to seek out an experienced artist who has the skills and knowledge to handle such procedures.

Our Studio Policy on Previously Cosmetic Tattooed Brows from Another Artist/ Studio:

Our studio does not take responsibility for the previous PMU work performed by other artists or studios. However, we understand that clients may need to have their previous PMU corrected or covered up. In such cases, we will provide a thorough consultation to assess the condition of the previous work and discuss the possible options for correction or cover up.

Additional charges for cover up work:

Cover up work is considered a separate service and requires additional time, effort, and materials. As a result, cover up work will come with additional charges. The exact amount of the additional charges will depend on the condition of the previous PMU and the extent of the cover up work required. Our studio will provide an estimate of the additional charges during the consultation. Minimum charge is an additional $50 to any brow service.

Touch up of another artist's work:

Our studio does not perform touch ups on another artist's work. Touch up work is considered a service provided by the original artist or studio that performed the PMU. If you need touch up work, we recommend that you contact the original artist or studio for assistance. This would be considered a new set/ cover-up here at our studio.

Complications with another studio's work:

In the event that you experience any complications with previous PMU work performed by another studio, we recommend that you seek medical attention immediately. Our studio will not be held responsible for any complications arising from previous PMU work performed by another studio.

By following this policy, our studio aims to provide clear and transparent guidelines for clients seeking correction or cover up work for previous PMU. Our goal is to ensure that all clients receive the best possible service and are fully satisfied with their PMU experience.
